Traditional American sauce, usually served with Roast turkey with American stuffing
Ingredients: 8 to 10 servings
300g fresh cranberries
Juice of 2 oranges
Grated peel of one orange
1 cinnamon stick
1 teaspoon ground ginger or 1 teaspoon fresh grated
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
- Place all ingredients in a pot over medium heat and bring to a boil. Simmer 15 minutes.
- Discard cinnamon stick and serve warm or at room temperature with turkey.
Note
To add flavor, add half a small can of cranberry sauce to prepared sauce five minutes before end of cooking time.
Cranberry sauce may be prepared using canned sauce heated with some of the seasonings mentioned above.
