Ingredients: 6 to 8 servings
600 beef or lamb, finely ground
100 g. Sujuk (Lebanese hot sausage - optional)
1 cup finely chopped onion
4 garlic cloves, crushed
1 tablespoon olive oil
½ cup fresh breadcrumbs
½ cup coarsely grated carrots
1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
2 eggs
¼ cup finely chopped parsley
1 tablespoon tomato paste
1 tablespoon Maggi liquid seasoning
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon dried oregano leaves, crumbled (or ¼ teaspoon ground)
1 teaspoon ground sweet paprika
1 teaspoon ground black pepper

1. Cut Sujuk to very small pieces if being used.
2. Fry onion in the vegetable oil over low heat stirring from time to time till tender.
3. Mix all ingredients, check seasoning by frying a small piece and adding salt according to desire.
4. Place ingredients in a sandwich pan with 4 cups capacity.
5. Bake loaf in a 175Cº oven for 50 to 60 minutes, set aside for 10 minutes, then turn on a serving plate and serve hot with vegetables of choice.
6. Recipe may be prepared a day before serving and may be used cold as a filling for sandwiches. |
